The annual Niagara Icewine Festival takes place in mid-January. The Niagara-on-the-Lake icewine weekend combines special winery tours, culinary seminars, luncheons, grand tastings, après parties and a Winemaker's Dinner Series with two nights accommodation at the Prince of Wales Hotel.
At Canada's largest public icewine tasting, Ontario wineries pour over 100 award-winning Icewines. Food stations offer Canadian cuisine.
The Icewine Bar, a 20-foot-long, 7000-lb. block of ice, carved with ornate scenes of Canadiana is the cornerstone of outdoor activities for both weekends. A portion of Queen Street in downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake is closed to allow Ontario wineries to pour their icewines from behind the Ice Bar.
Niagara's top restaurants participate in a series of luncheons and Winemaker's Dinners. Niagara wineries host behind-the-scenes' tours and conduct special icewine tastings.
The Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewine Weekend Pass includes these events and more. A Winery Touring Passport is included with an Icewine Evening ticket or Icewine Weekend Pass, but can be purchased separately.
