Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts operates an all-inclusive Elephant Camp in Thailand. Accessible only by riverboat, Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is located where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma) converge. Situated within the jungle canopy above the Ruak River, the exclusive property accommodates only 30 guests.
Accommodations include 15 luxurious air-conditioned tents, individually decorated, with a king-size bed, floors of recycled teak, exotic furniture, an outdoor shower, a sundeck with massage beds and a hand-hammered oversized copper bathtub. Each tent has zippered doors and windows that offer some of the most spectacular natural vistas in Southeast Asia.
Designed for active adults, the Camp features a hands-on elephant experience with the on-property coordinator and local mahouts, experts in the 2000-year-old Thai tradition of elephant care. All elephants were rescued from Thailand streets as part of an ongoing program to provide domesticated elephants with humane and natural settings.
Other activities include cruising the Mekong River, jungle treks, bird watching, fishing, riverbank picnics, nature walks, mountain biking, temple tours and cooking classes. Guests can also relax in the Camp's free-form pool, or enjoy a traditional Thai massage and exotic spa treatment amid the bamboo forests of the San Valley that bisects the Elephant Camp.
In the Four Seasons restaurant, guests dine together at a long family-style table, seated in suede leather chairs, or privately at separate tables. Dinner can be a barbecue under the stars, a five-course formal meal or a campfire dinner.
Dining during the day can be a picnic lunch in the jungle, afternoon tea on the river or a sundowner with snacks at sunset. Despite the remote location, the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle offers impressive collection of international and Thai wines from its sophisticated wine cellar.
