Qatar Airways and the Doha Asian Games Organising Committee (DAGOC) officially signed a partnership agreement worth $10 million US to announce Qatar Airways as the official airline for the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006.
Held December 1-15, Doha 2006 will welcome thousands of athletes from 45 countries across Asia and tens of thousands of spectators from around the world. The Asian Games is the second largest international sporting event after the International Summer Olympic Games. The Games are expecting 45 different countries, which will participate in 39 competitive sports, totalling 412 events.
Qatar Airways is the national carrier of the State of Qatar. Since its re-launch in 1997, Qatar Airways has developed into an award-winning airline flying to 60 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, the Indian subcontinent and the Far East. The airline plans to serve 70 destinations by the end of 2005.
Qatar Airways is preparing to move into the New Doha International Airport. The $5.5 billion US state-of-the-art facility, will open in phases, beginning in 2009.
