The Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee says it has signed up more than 23,000 Beijing hotel rooms for the games, accounting for up to 80 per cent of the city's total guestroom inventory for three-star and above hotels.
Thirty-one buildings will accommodate the 26 games in the Beijing area. Eleven were built, 11 were renovated and nine are temporary.
Beijing also built the "world's biggest" airport for the 2008 Games, according to Lord Foster, the UK architect who designed the new mega-hub. Lord Foster told the Daily Telegraph: "The scale is truly awesome."
