UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Angkor Wat, ancient temples, colonial cities, terraced rice paddies, fishing villages and encounters with local people highlight the September 16, 2006 and September 8, 2007 Vietnam and Cambodia packages offered by Zegrahm Expeditions.
Wolfgang Kaehler will offer photography classes, with information on composition, lighting and technique, as well as tips on photographing the inhabitants, landscapes, archeological and historic attractions of Vietnam and Cambodia.
After touring the Khmer temples at Angkor Wat, participants visit the National Museum and view the 5,000 silver tiles in the Silver Pagoda floor in Phnom Penh. Following a tour of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), participants cruise along Saigon River and north along the Vietnam coast on the 110-passenger Clipper Odyssey. In Nha Trang, they visit Cham Ponagar Temple, relax on the beach and snorkel along the coral reefs by nearby islands.
The 17-day tours include Van Phong Bay, the 11th-century twin Cham Towers in Qui Nhon, the Cham Museum in Da Nang and the Cham ruins at the My Son World Heritage Site. Hue, another UNESCO Site, boasts the photogenic Dong Ba Market, the citadel and moat, the Imperial City and Thien Mu Pagoda.
The cruise ship anchors amid thousands of picturesque islets and limestone outcroppings in Halong Bay. Zodiacs bring passengers to floating fishing villages, Japanese pearl farms and sandy beaches. At the Thang Long Water Puppet Theater, in Hanoi, puppet masters provide a private marionette show to participants, while standing in waist-deep in water.
