The Hong Kong Culinary Delights Festival and the Mid-Autumn Lantern Celebration are held from September to October.
Seafood Festival
The annual Seafood Festival, culinary workshops, master classes, food district events and competitions are included in the Hong Kong Culinary Delights Festival. The Seafood Festival features open-air waterfront restaurants, fishmongers' stalls and complimentary seafood dishes at participating restaurants in Sai Kung, in the New Territories, in Lei Yue Mun, in Kowloon, and on Lamma and Cheung Chau Islands.
International gourmet celebrities and renowned chefs, from Hong Kong hotels, participate in free cooking demonstrations in the Towngas Cooking Centre in Causeway Bay and at selected hotels. Entertainment and carnival programs will highlight special promotions in Hong Kong's hottest entertainment and food districts, like Lan Kwai Fong. Visitors join residents at street-food venues to taste local dishes such as hot pots and noodles.
At the Best of the Best Culinary Awards, the public vote on the ten finalist dishes in four categories: stir-fried dish, steamed dish, sweet and sour dish, and seafood and vegetable dish.
Lantern Celebration
Mid-Autumn Lantern Celebration begins on the 15th day of the 8th moon in the Chinese calendar. Families celebrate good harvests by lighting lanterns, appreciating the full moon and enjoying good food. Giant lanterns will be erected at Victoria Park.
A Lantern Gala invites other districts to showcase their finest lanterns around the fountain at Park Lane Shopper's Boulevard in Tsim Sha Tsui. Held on the same dates as the Hong Kong Culinary Delights Festival, the event features festive food stalls, traditional arts and craft workshops, cultural performances and a Fire Dragon Parade.
