Austin-Lehman Adventures is offering several multi-sport spring-break trips this year. In Ecuador, an eight-day Galapagos Island Adventure trip is available weekly, during spring break and year-round. Passengers on a luxury 20-person motor yacht, see the islands by hiking, boating, snorkeling and kayaking. Costs, beginning at $2,450 per person double occupancy, include nearly everything except international air and pre- and post-cruise city tour packages. If children 14 and under share a cabin with an adult, they receive up to 30% discount.
The Costa Rica Beach, River and Rainforest Adventure, includes nine days of hiking unspoiled Pacific beaches and jungle trails, rafting a Class IV river and exploring the inland cloud forest. Spring break trips run on February 17 to 25, March 3 to11, March 17 to 25, April 7 to 15, May 18 to 26 and monthly, for the rest of the year. Costs start at $1,638 per person double occupancy and are nearly all inclusive, except for international air fare. The single supplement is $350. There's a 25% rate reduction for children, ages 12 to 16 in the same room as their parents.
Spring break hiking
A new five-day Grand Canyon / Havasu Base Camp Adventure runs March 14 to 18, April 1 to 5, during spring break, as well as June 13 to 17, September 24 to 28, October 4 to 8 and October 24 to 28. Participants learn about the culture of the Havasupai people, and hike to turquoise pools fed by waterfalls. The cost of $1,550 per person, double occupancy departing from Phoenix, is nearly all inclusive, except for air. The single supplement is $80. Cost for children, ages 7 to 15 is $1,395.
Austin-Lehman Adventures nine-day Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Adventure in Peru, runs on March 24 to April 1. After spring break, the trip runs July 21 to 29, August 11 to 19 and October 6 to 14. Participants hike, bike, raft and ride horseback through the Andes. The nearly all inclusive cost is $3,098 per person, double occupancy, except for international air fare. The single supplement is $1,190.
Spring break biking
On the six-day Bryce & Zion National Parks Adventure, in Utah, participants hike and bike through the wilderness to see natural arches, slot canyons, hoodoos and mazes. The night star-gazing is the best in the continental United States. Spring break trips take place May 6 to 11 and May 13 to 18. The trip is repeated October 7 to 12 and October 14 to 19 (hiking only). The nearly all inclusive cost is $2,098, per person double occupancy rate, except for air fare. The single supplement is $525.
On most trips, lunch is usually a gourmet picnic along trails. Breakfast and dinner are in regional cafés and restaurants. Prior experience is not a prerequisite to the active trips.
