Located at the Berlin Schoenefeld Airport site, in southeast Berlin, the new BER Airport replaces Schoenefeld Airport, Berlin Tegel Airport and Tempelhof Airport, which closed in October 2008.
Berlin Tegel Airport closed one week after the date that BER opened. The name of Schoenefeld Airport (SFX) has changed to BER Terminal 5.
Berlin train station
It is easy to get to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (also called "Willy Brandt") by public transport from downtown Berlin.
Berlin Brandenburg (BER) has a train station directly below the new Berlin Airport Terminal. The railway station has six tracks and three platforms. Passengers on trains from downtown Berlin arrive at Level U1 of BER Airport Terminal.
Deutsche Bahn stops at Berlin Brandenburg International Airport and offers connections from BER Airport to Poland, Czech Republic and other international and local destinations.
Berlin Airport Express

In addition to the Airport Shuttle express train from downtown Berlin to the International Airport, other public transport, a bicycle path and airport bus services are also available.
Driving directions to Berlin Airport BER
You can drive to Berlin Brandenburg International Airport (BER) on the A113, which has a direct exit. The southern Berlin highway, A113, has been increased to six lanes.
How long does it take to drive between Berlin and the BER airport? Twenty-five minutes.
Beside the Teltow canal, A113 connects to the A100 Berlin city motorway and Berlin motorway ring A10. For easy driving to the Berlin Airport, A-road 96a was expanded to four lanes in the direction of Potsdam.
The airport access road reaches Berlin Brandenburg Terminal at Level E1 (departures and check in level). Berlin Airport parking is located next to the BER Terminal building.
Berlin Airport terminal
The size of Berlin Brandenburg International Airport is as large as 2,000 soccer fields (1,470 hectares or 3,633 acres). BER Terminal is located between the parallel northern runway and southern runway.
Domestic flights in Germany, flights to Europe and international flights all depart from one Berlin Airport Terminal.

What's on each level of BER Terminal?
Berlin Airport Terminal has six floors. Level E1 of BER Terminal has 30 restaurants, cafes and places to eat, 120 shops and services, as well as waiting rooms, check-in desks and security checkpoints for departures.
Berlin Brandenburg baggage claim is located on Level E0 and has eight luggage carousels. BER lounges are on Level E2 and Level E3. A visitor terrace overlooks Berlin Brandenburg International Airport from Level E4.
The new Berlin Airport can handle 27 million passengers, expanding up to 45 million passengers. An average of 700 flights to and from Berlin will arrive and depart from BER daily.
BER Airport hotel
An airport hotel, parking, conference center, shops, restaurants and offices occupy BER Airport City, in front of the Berlin Brandenburg International Terminal.
The Steigenberger Hotel is the first BER airport hotel. The 322-room four-star Steigenberger Hotel is located in front of the Berlin Brandenburg International Airport terminal.
You can get to Berlin's Airport City from the BER Terminal.
BER Business Park Berlin
Northeast of the Berlin International Airport terminal, BER Business Park Berlin houses airport hotels, offices and services like car rental.
Visitors can view Berlin Brandenburg International Airport from the 32-meter-high BER Infotower. Information on the new Berlin Airport is available from the pavilion at the base of the Infotower.
