Chile-based LAN Airlines is launching its newest operation, LAN Argentina, in May/June 2005. The South American company already includes Chile's LAN Chile, Peru's LAN Peru and Ecuador's LAN Ecuador among its operations.
This summer, LAN's fleet will begin changes that will take about a year to complete. Each coach seat will be equipped with a video screen. Passengers traveling on short LAN flights will get snacks, while long-haul passengers will receive full service meals.
LAN is the only carrier that has first class service to Chile, Argentina and Peru. The Oneworld carrier codeshares with American Airlines, from Montreal, and Alaska Airlines, from Vancouver and Calgary. Toronto is another codeshare destination.
